Powerful truth to that; even more, I can look back at every relationship I've damaged by trying to change others instead of seeing who and what they were, without expectations. I wanted them to be what I wanted them to be.

In my work, things go wrong; someone doesn't deliver, or stuff just falls apart. My reaction used to be to look frantically for a way to undo the damage, a way BACKWARDS. Now, my default reaction is to say "it is what it is; what will it take to move FORWARD?" It is amazing, even knowing the psychology behind it, to see how people step up when they accept that you're truly not looking for a scapegoat or even to place legitimate blame, but, instead, looking for a solution, a way forward.

I wasted a lotta years stuck in denial, refusing to accept what was. Thing is, until you accept it, you have zero chance of doing anything about it. Until you *see* the brick wall, you can't go around it.
